    Brandywine Valley Active Aging builds on a history of more than 40-years of continued service by the former Coatesville Area and Downingtown Area Senior Centers. While services are open to anyone who seeks to improve the quality of their life, regardless of their age, Brandywine Valley Active Aging’s programs and services are designed to offer the most value to individuals 50 and greater.

    GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Programs and Wellness, the Campus Activities Coordinator will be responsible for working in partnership with staff, volunteers, and participants, to successfully plan, implement, and oversee all the daily activities, programs, and services of Brandywine Valley Active Aging’s Downingtown or Coatesville Campus. In addition, the Campus Activities Coordinator, when appropriate, will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and overseeing all functions of the Virtual Campus. This position works across the organization and requires cooperation and collaboration to ensure the Mission of Brandywine Valley Active Aging can be achieved.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Campus Activities Coordinator will be detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally, and embody the characteristics necessary to drive the work of the organization. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

    1. Coordinates the work of volunteers and instructors and works in partnership with colleagues to ensure successful daily operations at all campuses.
    2. Ensures strategic goals and objectives are met by researching and proposing new activities in alignment with long-range plans.
    3. Ensures the successful coordination of all activities and programs daily, weekly, and monthly, including, when necessary, the set-up and clean-up of rooms and gathering of appropriate materials and maintaining adequate inventory of necessary supplies.
    4. Leads group activities (arts and crafts, BINGO, crossword puzzle, Pokeno, and more).
    5. Conducts timely surveys to determine interest, identify quality improvement, and monitor strategic and programmatic outcomes.
    6. Ensures that all pertinent client information is obtained and maintained and manages Brandywine Valley Active Aging’s HIIPA compliance.
    7. Ensures complete and accurate data entry of all daily, weekly, and monthly activities, programs, and services and prepares monthly reports as required.
    8. When appropriate, develops, plans, implements, promotes, and oversees the activities, programs, and services offered through the Virtual Campus.
    9. When appropriate, manages the Brandywine Valley Active Aging Technology Lending Program.
    10. When appropriate, serve as the primary point of contact for trouble shooting technical challenges within the Virtual Campus.
    11. Supports the Director of Programs and Wellness in carrying out the work of the Campus Advisory Councils and when necessary, manages meetings on behalf of the Director of Programs and Wellness.
    12. Supports the production of the monthly newsletter including but not limited to creating, editing, copying, printing, assembly, and delivery: up to 2,000 pieces.
    13. Supports Campus staff by answering and directing incoming calls, greeting guests and visitors, conducting tours, responding to member inquiries, and scheduling appointments.
    14. If requested, temporarily assumes the duties and responsibilities of absent staff.
    15. Other duties may be required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in relatable field ideal; however, possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
    2. Desire to work with older adults and the ability to put service of others before self.
    3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    4. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
    5. Ability to prioritize work and to appropriately delegate work to meet deadlines.
    6. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, tact, and professionalism.
    7. Familiarity with computers and computer software including Microsoft Office.
    8. High level of accuracy, efficiency, and punctuality.
    9. Personal transportation and the ability to travel daily, if needed, throughout the County and occasionally for local, regional, or national conferences or training.

The individual must be able to work as part of a team by working successfully with staff, volunteers, and participants. The individual must be open-minded and able to work with all elements of human diversity represented within the internal and external community.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While the work in this position is largely indoors, travel throughout the county does happen. When indoors, the work environment is protected from weather conditions but subject to some temperature fluctuations. Periodically during the year, the position is involved in outdoor activities and subject to temperatures below 60 degrees F and above 80 degrees F. Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind are possible. On occasion, the environment may be noisy and distracting.

    The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals who are differently abled to perform the functions.

    • Communicating with others to exchange information, instructions, and ideas by means of spoken words, typed or handwritten notes, forms and other work materials, use of a computer, laptop, or other electronic device.
    • Excellent hearing and vision for emergency situations.
    • Office work that primarily involves sitting and standing for sustained periods of time.
    • Ability to lift, adjust, push, pull, carry, slide, and move objects weighing 40+ pounds repeatedly and frequently in all directions.
    • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, squat, and reach in all directions for extended periods of time, up to 8-hours per day.
    • Other movements required from time to time may include, but are not limited to, stooping, kneeling, stepping, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions hands, fingers, and wrists.
