Job Description
The Director of Finance will oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO, administer and review all financial plans and budgets, keep senior leadership team abreast of organization’s financial status, manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Analyze and present all financial reports, including monthly and annual statements
- Oversee all financial, program and grants accounting (familiarity with government, corporate and foundation grants necessary)
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets, including grant budgeting and monitoring
- Prepare and analyze monthly Cash Flow, Profit and Loss, present to finance committee
- Clearly present all financial matters to the CEO and the Board of Directors at board meetings
- Ensure all state charity registrations are in order and filed
- Review, approve, and maintain all MOUs and vendor contracts
- Attend weekly (via zoom) staff, program, development and marketing meetings
- Review, prepare 1099s
- Ensure organization insurances are adequate and in place, request Certificates of Insurance as needed
- Prepare weekly cash reconciliation report to CEO, cash management
- Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, maintain general ledger
- Ensure all government registration entities are up to date
Desired Skills & Experience
- Minimum of a BA
- 7-10 plus years of overall professional experience, with a focus on broad financial, operations, strategic planning, HR and management experience
- Experience in non-profit and grant management
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and Bloomerang
- Ability to communicate financial concepts and budgeting process to programmatic and fundraising colleagues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving work environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
