The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Manager to manage fundraising, outreach, events, and cultivation, develop relationships with donors and prospects and represent the work of Human Rights Watch within Australia and specifically in Melbourne. This is a one year fixed-term, part-time position for parental leave coverage, with an anticipated start in December 2024. The Senior Manager will report to the Associate Director of Development and Outreach based in Sydney and will work closely with Senior Associate for Development and Outreach, and the Australia Director, both based in Sydney.
The successful candidate will mobilize support from donors and prospects in Melbourne, including the Melbourne Committee – a network of close supporters who support fundraising, outreach, networking, and cultivation initiatives.
As the Australia office of Human Rights Watch is based in Sydney, the successful candidate will be expected to work from home (WFH) in Melbourne, with periodic visits to the Sydney office throughout the year. This position will work an 0.8 (80%) schedule, or roughly 30 hours per week. We aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in structuring the 0.8 position in a way that meets the needs of both the ideal candidate and the team.

Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field such as international relations, social sciences, communications and marketing, law, event management or related studies is required.
Experience: A minimum of five years of fundraising/event planning is desirable.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
Other: The flexibility to work some evenings or weekends, as needed, related to event coordination is required. Applications for this position must possess valid Australian work authorization.
