    AAPI New Jersey (formerly AAPI Montclair) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2021 to advocate for Asian American and Pacific Islander rights and representation and to promote awareness and education around AAPI culture and history. Through various initiatives, AAPI New Jersey seeks to create structural change, build solidarity among communities, fight for equity for all oppressed groups, while celebrating AAPI cultures. Since its founding, AAPI New Jersey has grown from a small group of community members responding to the rise of anti-Asian hate to a nationally recognized organization supported by thousands, implementing the teaching of AAPI curriculum through its impactful program TAAS (Teaching Asian American Stories) and creating a model for AAPI community mobilization.     Position Description

    AAPI New Jersey seeks an Education Program Coordinator who will help coordinate the day-to-day activities of supporting education programs and our initiative Teach Asian American Stories. This position is a good fit for an organized, strategic self-starter who can collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a critical time of growth with strong potential for advancement as our organization expands.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage district outreach, helping to introduce TAAS and available resources to educators.
    • Coordinate updates for TAAS communications channels, such as email newsletter updates, website updates, and drafting and scheduling social media posts
    • Maintain and update TAAS database of educators and contacts and TAAS calendar
    • Collaborate with the TAAS team on developing recommendations for school districts
    • Coordinate delivery of educational resources to schools, including assembling book donation kits and shipping packages
    • Schedule and set up workshops and programs
    • Other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Strong commitment to Asian American & immigrant communities, social & racial justice, and cultural humility
    • Comfort in a “start-up” culture and with creating and adapting structures and processes that are driven by values
    • Ability to work independently, think creatively, and adapt
    • Well-organized with aptitude for setting up systems and processes
    • Experience in managing projects, setting and adhering to timelines and benchmarks
    • Proficiency in or ability to learn software skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Canva, Slack, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Gmail).
    • A plus but not required: language proficiency in one or multiple Asian languages

    Schedule & Compensation:

    • 35 hours a week
    • Annual salary of $35,000-40,000 (commensurate with experience)
    • Option of health insurance through United Healthcare covered at 80% by AAPI New Jersey, or taxable health insurance stipend of $3,000 annually.
    • A taxable employee wellness stipend of $500 per year.
    • Generous PTO including federal holidays, 20 days of vacation, and 5 days of sick leave annually.
    • Opportunities for professional development.
    • Flexible schedule - may require working some nights and weekends
    • Travel throughout NJ for meetings & events may be necessary at times (15%); position will be based in our Montclair office with flexibility to work remotely as practicable.
