Grants Officer II

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Grants and Programs as part of the Grants Department, the Grants Officer II plays a pivotal role in community engagement and the development and implementation of a new community-based, grantmaking and capacity building program focused on organizations serving constituents from underserved and marginalized communities such as Black, Latino/a/e, Indigenous and Native American, Asian/Asian-American, Pacific Islander, and other communities across the Greater Hartford region.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Developing and managing grantmaking and professional development programs and processes to serve the Greater Hartford area’s cultural organizations working with underserved and marginalized communities.
• Forming, strengthening, and maintaining community relationships.
• Planning meetings and focus groups to listen to constituent needs, making adjustments to CTH grantmaking policies, procedures, applications, and reports as needed to best meet organizational and community needs and aspirations.
• Writing and administering constituent surveys.
• Representing CTH at community programs and events.
• Traveling to cultural organizations to learn about them and facilitating connections to programmatic and funding opportunities at CTH and affiliated partner organizations.
• Responding to queries from area cultural organizations.
• Assisting the Communications Manager in promoting and publicizing CTH projects and programmatic activities.
• Updating CTH constituent and grants databases and records.
• Assisting area organizations connect their projects and content to CTH’s digital learning websites.
• Assisting Grants Department with other grant lines and programs and other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability for in-state travel: 40%, flexible depending on department needs
• Attendance at events/meetings outside regular business hours as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of the Greater Hartford Region and its nonprofit community, especially Hartford, or other similarly diverse metropolitan areas, and negotiating disparities in opportunity of its residents.
• Experience working with diverse communities, peoples, and organizations, particularly as related to issues of equity, access, and opportunity.
• 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit or public sector.
• Strong computer skills (Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint preferred).
• Task and goal oriented.
• A desire and ability to work independently, move quickly, but deliberately; share and receive critical feedback.
• This position requires strong communications between staff, board members, grantees, partners, and the public. Understanding these relationships is critical and excellent communication skills are required.
• Effective writing and editing skills.

CTH’s workday is 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday with room for flexibility in employee schedules. The Grants Officer II will work both remotely and onsite, at least 3 days a week either at CTH’s Middletown office or with constituent organizations in the Greater Hartford area.
