    From performance marathons to Fellowships for Black and arts workers of color, from fundraising to entrepreneurial regrants, The Field has been a go-to home for thousands of artists since 1986. Now in its 39th year, The Field is building a nationwide community that connects, empowers, and elevates artists and arts organizations. Through the prioritization of sustainable careers, advancing equity for historically marginalized groups, and promoting financial empowerment, we are laying the groundwork for a world where artists thrive abundantly and holistically in every area of their lives.

    We are seeking a remote part-time Artist Services Associate to assist the Director of Artist Services in providing essential support to its Sponsored Artists and Artist Members. This position requires previous experience in non-profit arts administration, fiscal sponsorship, as well as knowledge of the contemporary arts ecosystem across all disciplines.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    Artist Services (Direct)

    • Review and approve applications for fiscal sponsorship.
    • Guide newly Sponsored Artists through onboarding, ensuring a clear understanding of fiscal sponsorship services, compliance requirements, and financial processes.
    • Review and provide feedback on the fundraising materials, including crowdfunding campaigns, of The Field’s Sponsored Artists ensuring that the materials include the necessary language and follows The Field’s rules and best practices.
    • Prepare Sponsored Artist In-Kind Donation Acknowledgements and manage MftA Membership requests.
    • Assist with supporting our subsidized Fiscal Sponsorship Program, through application evaluation, onboarding, and individualized and/or group support sessions.
    • Responds to inquiries from or meets one-on-one (remotely) with prospective members or Sponsored Artists to answer questions and help them determine next steps.

    Other Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assists in the collection of relevant opportunities for Sponsored Artists and collaborates with Operations to distribute digitally, virtually, or in-person.
    • Assists Director of Artists Services in maintaining and updating as needed the Sponsored Artist Program data collection, reporting, deadlines, FAQs, program website language, and event descriptions and invitations.
    • Assists with note-taking and task tracking during meetings or for projects.
    • Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals.

    Qualifications

    • College Degree or equivalent experience in arts administration, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
    • 1-2 years of experience in customer service or member services, ideally within an arts or nonprofit environment.
    • 3-5 years first-hand experience in fundraising, crowdfunding, grant writing, or benefit events, or in experience employed by an art organization working in development.
    • Knowledge of the contemporary arts across multiple disciplines is a must.

    Skills and Competencies

    • The ideal candidate has a collaborative and flexible approach to developing relationships and actively orients toward effective methods support, advice, and thought partnership with different artists.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to respond to inquiries promptly and work collaboratively.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize requests, meet deadlines, and excellent attention to detail.
    • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to research, troubleshoot, document, and guide artists and projects through their membership experience.
    • Familiarity with databases is a plus. Strong word processing and ability to collect, organize, analyze, and prepare data reports using spreadsheets and PDF conversion.

    About this Position

    This is a part-time, non-exempt, remote position based in New York City. The hourly range for this position is $25-$29. We determine our salary ranges based on market competitiveness and internal equity for each job. The hourly wage offered to a selected candidate will be contingent upon the candidate’s qualifications. Our work hours are generally 10am to 6pm EST Monday – Friday, with occasional night or weekend hours. A flexible working schedule can be explored for the right candidate.
