    What is the Role?

    The Alumni Success Manager (ASM) will create and employ strategic structures to support alumni enrolled in college and those who are currently stopped out. The ASM begins working with college bound scholars and their families in the spring of their senior year of high school as they prepare for the transition. Engaging students in reflection, exploration, and the planning process to determine the best path forward is central to your support and their success. You’ll continue to provide alumni with resources throughout their college experience, until college graduation.

    This role requires travel 30% of the year to visit students at college campuses and coordinate meetings to fit the needs of alumni and their families. The ASM will be hired by and will report to the Director of Alumni Success.

    What You’ll Be Asked To Do

    Caseload Management (Advising & Support)

    • Drive and implement a tiered caseload management system of support that focuses on college persistence, financial aid, academic and social integration, career and life readiness skills, and college completion
    • Analyze data and routinely assess alumni needs to design and inform strategy, including prioritizing campus visits and outreach
    • Manage efficient college matriculation process for caseload of alumni, including tracking data and materials
    • Serve as primary contact for CIP alumni enrolled at caseload colleges and universities from matriculation through college graduation
    • Build warm supportive relationships with alumni caseload via phone, text, or at in-person meetings to establish positive rapport and relationships and share key messages and reminders
    • Collect and analyze data to strategize, prioritize, and discover trends across alumni and colleges/universities
    • Track and maintain student data using Beyond12 (contact information, ASM contacts/outreach, meetings, Alumni Grants)

    College Team and Career, College Success Liaison

    • Co-teach senior college and career readiness course at our high school
    • Serve as a resource and point of contact for scholars and staff at Coney Island Prep High School prior to matriculation decisions
    • Facilitate campus-based initiatives to promote college persistence via workshops, scholarships, life skills, career, and networking opportunities to support alumni in connecting with existing campus resources

    Relationship Management

    • Develop and maintain strong institutional knowledge of college campuses on caseload
    • Build strategic partnerships and engage student support systems at each assigned college or university to cultivate relationships that will support student persistence and increase alumni support, investment, and engagement with the campus
    • Assist with minimizing obstacles which may impede degree progress by sharing student data (quantitative and qualitative) with campus partners and discussing resources necessary for improving retention, persistence, and success
    • Manage partnerships with outside vendors
    • Collaborate cross functionally data for development team, support schools with testing administration, recruitment

    Career Development

    • Collaborate with Director of Alumni Success and other Charter Management Organizations to develop and implement Coney Island Prep’s strategy to support stopped out alumni
    • Provide support to stopped out alumni who are interested in enrolling in college and/or pursuing other opportunities
    • Serve as primary contact for all CIP stopped out students and alumni enrolled at assigned colleges/universities from enrollment decision to graduation

    • Demonstrated ability to support alumni in their pursuit of college graduation and career readiness
    • Extensive knowledge of career development opportunities, the college admissions and financial aid processes, as well as the skills necessary to help students be successful in college
    • Background in research, networking, and communication skills to connect students to on-campus champions and resources
    • Prior experience with Google Suite, CRM, and Excel
    • Teaching experience a plus
    • Knowledge of higher education law and compliance (FERPA)
    • Bachelor's degree required; at least two years of alumni relations work
    • Spanish, Cantonese, or Russian proficiency a plus

    Coney Island Prep is a college preparatory public charter school in Brooklyn, New York. Merging growth, performance, and commitment, the Coney Island Prep community takes its responsibility to prepare scholars for the college and career of their choice very seriously, but not ourselves. Coney Island Prep currently serves over 1,300 scholars across its four schools, including:

    • 312 scholars in kindergarten – second grade at the lower elementary school
    • 336 scholars in third – fifth grade at the upper elementary school
    • 348 scholars in sixth – eighth grades at the middle school
    • 349 scholars in ninth-twelfth grade at the high school

    Benefits and Compensation

    • Employees at Coney Island Prep are provided with salaries that are highly competitive, set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills and experiences relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $70,000 - 85,000.
