    Descrição

    Assistant Attorney General

    Criminal Bureau

    Gaming Enforcement Division

    (Boston/Malden District Court)

The Attorney General’s Office is looking for a highly motivated individual with a commitment to public service to serve as a prosecutor in the Gaming Enforcement Division within the Criminal Bureau, in the Malden District Court (located in Medford, MA). The Gaming Enforcement Division is a statewide team of prosecutors, investigators, and administrative and other staff, partnered with the Massachusetts State Police, and charged with investigating and prosecuting gaming-related crimes pursuant to G.L. c. 12, § 11M.

Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) will be involved in investigating and prosecuting criminal conduct related to expanded gaming in the Commonwealth, including violations of G.L. c. 23K, G.L. c. 23N, G.L. c. 267A, and G.L. c. 271, and other illegal activity, such as gaming-related financial crime, cheating, public order offenses, and other criminal activity occurring at the casino. The work in this position will emanate from Encore Boston Harbor, and the AAG will be assigned to and appear daily in Malden District Court.

The AAG will be expected to handle a large District Court caseload and will be charged with leading and coordinating investigations and prosecutions with the Massachusetts State Police and Everett Police in conjunction with other prosecutors, financial investigators, victim/witness advocates, paralegals, and support staff. The position requires a candidate with a proven track record of versatility and adaptability, and the ability to build bridges and exercise good judgment. Division members work closely with the State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit assigned to both the Attorney General’s Office and the Gaming Commission, as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, which demands a demonstrated history of successful partnerships with other law enforcement agencies. Additional duties will include screening potential cases, fostering relationships with industry stakeholders, participating in trainings, and working cohesively with others in the Attorney General’s Office and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

All employees assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division are subject to the Enhanced Code of Ethics adopted pursuant to G.L. c. 12, § 11M(c).

Position Requirements: Law school graduate and member of the Massachusetts bar with at least two (2) years of litigation and trial experience as an attorney, or (1) year of criminal prosecution experience. Must be willing to learn, eager to be challenged, and comfortable appearing in court. We are seeking a team player who can write effectively and communicate clearly. Must be self-motivated, disciplined, ethical, and possess the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Although this position is centrally based in Malden District Court, the successful candidate will be required to travel, as needed, to other areas of the Commonwealth in support of investigations and litigation. Accordingly, a valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required.

    Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt

Salary: $84,134 to $125,572 commensurate with JD year.
