    Assistant Attorney General

    White Collar & Public Integrity Division

    The Attorney General’s Office is looking for a highly motivated individual of integrity and commitment to public service to serve as a prosecutor in the White Collar & Public Integrity Division of the Criminal Bureau. This Assistant Attorney General will be responsible for handling a broad range of criminal cases, spanning financial crime, public corruption, and insurance fraud. Financial crime includes fiduciary embezzlement by professionals, complex financial frauds, and tax fraud schemes. Public corruption includes a broad array of schemes involving public officials, public institutions, and public funds. Insurance fraud includes workers’ compensation fraud, unemployment tax and compensation fraud, motor vehicle insurance fraud, arson, false injury, and property loss claims. The Criminal Bureau is staffed by a group of experienced prosecutors who partner with financial investigators, Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Attorney General’s Office, and local, state, and federal investigative and enforcement agencies.

    Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General will assume an existing caseload of substantive prosecutions and investigations, as well as responsibility for handling new assignments that include initial review and screening of allegations, formal grand jury investigations, and prosecutions up to and including trial. Assistant Attorneys General in the White Collar & Public Integrity Division are charged with leading and coordinating the efforts of a prosecutorial team that typically includes a financial investigator, a state trooper, a victim/witness advocate, and support staff. Additional functions may include, but are not limited to, (a) conducting joint investigations with other federal, state, and local referral agencies, prosecutorial organizations, and/or law enforcement agencies; (b) aiding the investigative and prosecutorial efforts of others within the Division; and (c) providing leadership and oversight of other team members’ contributions to case prosecutions.

    Position Requirements: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a high motivation to serve the public interest and have the ability and desire to handle multiple complex and challenging priority matters simultaneously. At least seven years of full-time legal experience is desired, including significant experience as a prosecutor or defense attorney, preferably in white collar or other complex criminal litigation. Applicants should have the ability to successfully manage all members of a large internal and external investigative team, develop effective working relationships with outside agencies, and effectively represent the Commonwealth and the Attorney General before federal and state courts, agencies, and the public. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Applicants must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or be eligible for admission in short order. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required, as travel is necessary to various courts.

    Location: The Assistant Attorney General hired for this position can choose to work out of the Boston Office or one of the AGO Regional Offices located in Springfield, New Bedford, and Worcester.

    Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model may include some remote workdays for the successful candidate. For the first six months in the position, the Assistant Attorney General will be expected to work in the office at least three or four days per week.

    Salary: $84,134 to $125,572, commensurate with JD year.
