Cardozo Education Campus, part of D.C. Public Schools (DCPS), seeks a dynamic, experienced instructional coach to lead and support the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the CTE landscape and a strong commitment to equity, literacy, and instructional excellence across non-traditional content areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and coaching for CTE educators in programs such as Graphic Design, Engineering, and Culinary Arts.
- Design and deliver high-impact professional development on pedagogical frameworks specific to CTE instruction.
- Support CTE teachers in lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with educators to develop strategies that prepare students for success on industry-recognized certifications and state assessments.
- Promote literacy integration across all CTE content areas.
- Provide targeted instructional support for English language learners and students from historically marginalized communities.
- Monitor and analyze student academic performance data to inform instructional practices.
- Serve as a testing coordinator, managing logistics and implementation for school-wide assessments.
- Actively participate on Instructional Leadership Teams (ILT), including meetings held outside of regular school hours.
- Represent Cardozo at evening and weekend events, and travel as needed for expos and conferences to promote and strengthen CTE programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field preferred.
- Current DC teaching license or ability to obtain one.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a CTE or secondary education setting.
- Proven expertise in instructional coaching, adult learning, and pedagogical strategies for CTE subjects.
- Strong understanding of culturally responsive teaching, literacy development, and data-driven instruction.
- Effective communicator and collaborative leader with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and educational excellence for all students.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency.
- Experience supporting English learners and special populations.
- Familiarity with DCPS standards and assessment systems.
