Responsibilities: Manage the Town Community Housing Program, including overseeing procedures and applications, and serving as the primary liaison with the Town Board and Planning Departments. Responsibilities include facilitating opportunities to create new housing, the review of housing program applications, maintaining the housing registry, tracking housing projects, managing documentation and compliance, and compiling reports.
Key Responsibilities Detailed:
Qualifications: Must possess comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws relating to community & affordable housing development programs; thorough knowledge of state & federal affordable housing funding sources & their requirements; knowledge of local planning, zoning & building regulations; knowledge of real estate law; good knowledge of construction, architectural and planning techniques; proficiency in data management and analysis, ability to conduct research, and experience in report preparation; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to analyze facts and exercise good judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers, professional colleagues, organizations, public officials and the general public. Requires a bachelor's degree, and ideally a minimum of five years’ experience in housing program management, planning, or a related field, including experience with community outreach and stakeholder coordination.
Compensation: Competitive benefits. Annual salary range $100K - $125K.
This is a provisional position: the successful candidate will be hired with the provision that the employee must take the next scheduled Suffolk County Civil Service exam for Community Development Project Supervisor and score high enough to be within the top three willing acceptors of the position.
