    About the Organization

    Excelsior Works! is a community-centered workforce development center that envisions an Excelsior community where multiple generations of immigrants and working class families are able to live and thrive in a healthy local economy. Our holistic approach to employment support makes time to understand each client’s story and how their circumstances affect their job readiness, allowing us to tailor our approach and to build strong relationships with each client. Along with employment support, our team provides wrap-around services for public benefits, housing, and legal counseling that are language accessible to foster an increased use of services that lead to self-sufficiency, job placement, and a sense of community belonging.

    Position Overview

    The Employment Project Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for the planning and implementation of Excelsior Works’ (ExW!) workforce development projects. Under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director, the Project Coordinator will develop work plans and coordinate a team of job counselors to implement workforce development projects serving the Latinx and Chinese immigrant communities in the Excelsior neighborhood. The person in this position will actively identify and solve roadblocks, draft work plans and reports, and address other project management needs. They will assemble project plans, identify resource needs, as well as coordinate one or more cross functional projects at any given time.

    The Project Coordinator will play a critical role in implementing and scaling workforce development services we provide to the community. They will engage with Excelsior Works! CBO partners, contractors, and work cross departmentally to oversee workforce development projects and priorities.

    Project Coordination (30%)

    • Develop work plans, goals and objectives to meet annual project deliverables
    • Coordinate bi-weekly team meetings and ensure thorough communication and oversight of team performance according to established work plan
    • Manage workflow to gather data and develop narrative to complete monthly reports in a timely manner
    • Actively connect and engage with external stakeholders (e.g. nonprofit service providers, employers, government agencies, etc.) to strengthen referral network and gather resources for EW! clients
    • Manage systems and maintain client records to meet compliance requirements

    Client Support & Case Management (30%)

    • Provide case management services (job search and application assistance, service referral, etc.)
    • Facilitate job readiness training

    Organizational Leadership (20%)

    • Develops and makes decisions regarding the content, activities and other information related to respective workforce development projects

    Supervision (20%)

    • Supervise one Job Counselor

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bilingual in Spanish required
    • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience, excellent listening, verbal, and writing communication skills
    • We are looking for someone who is skilled in building strong interpersonal and community relationships.
    • Google Workspace proficiency is required. Must be able to write, stand, and sit.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of experience in the planning and execution of projects
    • Experience working effectively with working-class Latinx, Chinese, and Filipino immigrants, commitment to social and economic justice, and knowledge of issues affecting working-class immigrants in San Francisco are a plus!

    Work Environment / Physical Demands

    This position will work out of the Excelsior Works! office at 5000 Mission St. San Francisco, CA 94112. Our team is on a primarily in-person work schedule with reasonable flexibility to work remotely for circumstances outlined in our remote work policy. This position will require the ability to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; ability to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; ability to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; ability to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

    Employment Terms

    This position is 40 hours per week. This position has a salary range of $26.45-$28.85/hour, annual $55,016-$60,008. This position is non-exempt. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
