    Resilient Strategies (RS) is an organization that provides a robust and values-aligned infrastructure that is nimble, agile and responsive to program, political and campaign demands while maintaining compliance and efficiency for its partner organizations working for social justice. Within the Resilient Strategies Network, partner organizations can tap into the benefits of easily sharing staff and resources across multiple political projects (whether they be 501c3s, 501c4s, PACs, or other entities) with a consolidated backend to handle financial and legal services, cost allocation, human resources and payroll/benefits management, grants and contract management, technology infrastructure and support, and other core services.

    As a movement operations organization, we believe in building thoughtful systems that support a people-powered movement. We’re providing backend support to our partner organizations, increasing their ability to build power and fight for justice in working-class communities of color. Resilient Strategies partners with key grassroots organizations led by working class people of color. Current partner organizations include: Seed the Vote, San Francisco Rising, the Chinese Progressive Association, Trabajadores Unidos - Workers United, Seeding Change, Bay Resistance, AAPIs for Civic Empowerment, and Black to the Future.

    Position Overview

    The Accounting Coordinator will support the Finance Team with Accounts Payable processing, bank reconciliations, audit support and Accounts Receivables among other finance tasks.

    The Accounting Coordinator is a member of the Resilient Strategies Finance Team and works with staff across multiple departments and teams to serve partners in the RS Network. They are supervised by the Deputy Director of Finance.

    Responsibilities

    • Accounts Payable Processing
      • Process invoices for payment on Bill.com on a biweekly basis, maintaining relationships with a subgroup of partners assigned to coordinator.
      • Communicate with network partners regarding questions and requests related to payables processing.
      • Enter and document ACH and auto-pay transactions including insurance billing.
      • Train staff in the RS network on accounts payable
      • Monitor and manage stale checks, re-issuing as necessary.
    • Assist with financial audits when necessary.
      • Produce reports and schedules as requested by the Finance Director.
    • Accounts Receivables Processing
      • Generate and send space rental and other invoices.
      • Monitor open invoices and outstanding receivables.
    • Organizational Support
      • Attend staff meetings and retreats.
      • Attend Finance Team meetings and retreats.

    Required Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of accounting experience
    • Ability to process large volumes of email inquiries on a daily basis
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple requests and competing deadlines

    • Ability to learn new platforms easily and manage multiple sources of data
    • Excellent data handling skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: must be able to communicate confidently and effectively with project team members and across departments and teams
    • Strong time management and organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Commitment to social justice and RS’s mission is essential, including a desire to work with a diverse community
    • Eagerness to solve complex and time sensitive problems in collaboration with multiple stakeholders
    • Willingness to work collaboratively, but with the capacity to work independently
    • Computer literacy with Mac OS, Google Suite/Apps, MS Word, MS Excel, and other basic software applications

    Work Environment

    The position can be hybrid-remote or in-person in Oakland, CA. Remote work will be considered for appropriate candidates able to travel to the SF Bay Area 3-5 a year for in person training and/or meetings.

    Physical Demands

    • Able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation

    • Able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
    • Able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others
    • Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone

    • Able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds

    Compensation

    This is a non-exempt full time position at 40 hours per week. This position has an estimated salary range of $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience and qualifications including overtime and bonuses. RS provides competitive benefits, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and substantial vacation days and paid time off.
