We are currently in search of a Chief Executive Officer for Pretty Lake Camp. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Mattawan, MI.

LOCATION: Mattawan, MI - Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)

POSITION TITLE: Chief Executive Officer

DURATION: Exempt (Full-time Salary)

SALARY: $100,000- $115,000

The CEO is responsible for overall operations, asset protection, fundraising, financial planning, and marketing/public relations for Pretty Lake Camp, a non-profit organization that provides summer camp experiences to at-risk children in Kalamazoo County, retreat and food service accommodations for diverse groups on a year-round basis, team-building and leadership development through the Adventure Centre, and educational programming at PLC’s farm.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Experienced Fundraiser with demonstrated success in Major Gifts, Foundation, and Corporate Giving
• Seasoned People Leader & Manager
• Understanding of Cultural & Socioeconomic Diversity, Compassionate, and Mission-driven
• Background working in social services, human services, or related field
• Bachelors Degree

How You Will Spend Your Day:

Management & Programming

• Provides leadership in developing and implementing sustainable programs, organizational strategies, and financial plans with the Board and staff.
• Identifies areas that need planning; develops and recommends goals, objectives, and action plans for the approval of the Board, and implements plans in conjunction with the Board and staff.
• Monitors and evaluates services provided and reports progress to the Board and committees; makes recommendations for change as needed.
• Oversees the human resources function to ensure optimum staffing and utilization of competent staff, recommending policy changes to benefits, compensation, employment, training and other areas as appropriate.
• Performs managerial duties for administrative staff including interviewing/hiring applicants; monitoring performance and objectives of staff; reviewing staff performance and recommending salary increases, developing staff members by encouraging further education, participation in work-related seminars, providing learning opportunities within the organization, and terminating employees if necessary.
• Reviews current practices/methods and initiates development of new ones as necessary to reduce costs, encourage growth, and improve efficiency.

Financial

• Leads the development of annual operating and capital budgets for submission to the Board; ensures compliance with approved budgets; proposes revisions as necessary.
• Provides for the appropriate control and accountability of all funds, physical assets, and other property.
• Protects Pretty Lake Camp’s legal interests and maintains its operations within governmental laws and regulations.

Communication

• Communicates effectively and persuasively with multiple audiences using both oral and written communications.
• Represents PLC in relationships with the media, community organizations, suppliers, competitors, professional organizations, donors, customers, and similar groups in matters of public image, perception and presentation.
• Presents at local meetings and to outside groups in matters of PLC promotion and education.
• Answers routine inquires on behalf of the organization as appropriate.

Fund Development and Growth

• Identifies, cultivates and solicits donor prospects, major / planned gift prospects (individuals and foundations), and grant opportunities within the local community and beyond.
• Develops, maintains, and enhances the fund-raising capabilities of board members, volunteers and staff.
• Assists in researching and writing grants, preparing grant/foundation reports, writing appeal letters, planning organization wide fundraising events, and other fundraising activities as needed.

Board Relations

• Facilitates the work of the Board and its committees by developing resource materials, providing appropriate information and reports, and assisting committee chairpersons as necessary.
• Provides advice and counsel to the Board to assist in setting policies and monitoring the performance of PLC.
• Recommends new policies, programs, and action plans consistent with the vision, mission and strategic plan of the organization.
• Executes all policies/decisions of the Board.
• Completes other duties as assigned by the Board.
