The Choice is partnering with our client, a leading national trade association in the search for a proactive Staff Assistant to oversee general office support for the Capitol Hill Office, performing a variety of administrative and legislative-related tasks. This is a temporary position, but there is a possibility for temporary-to-hire.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel required.
- Strong interest in legislation, policy and politics is highly desirable. Must possess good problem-solving skills, be detailed oriented, and meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks with minimum supervision.
- Excellent oral, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal staff, association members, board members, members of Congress, and congressional staff.
Job Duties:
- Professionally handle staff assistant and front-desk duties, including answering phone calls, engaging with visitors, and managing email correspondence.
- Assist with scheduling congressional meetings and coordinating intra-office events.
- Professionally handle staff assistant and front-desk duties, including answering phone calls, engaging with visitors, and managing email correspondence. Provide relevant information as needed and ensure office security procedures are followed for office access.
- Maintain office calendar and assist with scheduling congressional meetings and coordinating intra-office events.
- Coordinate legislative materials for classes, i.e., acquire forms, prepare information packets, etc.
- Assist with planning legislative committee meetings, organize legislative materials, and oversee logistics, scheduling, catering, etc.
- Assist with mass mailings, and donor recognition awards.
- Develop an understanding of the associations policy priorities and assist in researching and tracking legislative issues, as directed.
- Facilitate the preparation of meeting rooms, including set-up of conference phones, screens and projectors, presentations, etc.
- Manage smooth operation of the office including updating legislative packets in common work areas and ordering office supplies.
- Assist the Senior Vice President and Vice President as directed.
- Assist the staff with A/V and IT equipment and technology needs, as assigned.
Salary: $22-24/hr
