Position description
The Rady School of Management's Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) is a self-supporting program that admitted its first cohort of 42 students in the summer of 2016 and its most recent cohort of 170 students in the summer of 2024 across our full-time and part-time programs.
The Academic Administrator will serve as the Associate Director of the MSBA program. Preparing our students for employment in the business analytics sector requires intimate knowledge of the profession including the types of analytical skills and quantitative profile that our students must develop to be competitive in the marketplace. By bringing together academic excellence, knowledge of industry demand profiles, and industry contacts, the Associate Director, together with the Executive Director, will ensure that we attract the very best students, achieve outstanding employment outcomes, and further add to the program's reputation.
This position will coordinate activities with and report to the Executive Director of the MSBA program. The primary responsibilities are:
Interface with Industry Sponsors: The success of the MSBA program is determined, to a large extent, by its interaction and contacts with industry. We need an individual who can connect with our existing company network, leverage their own professional network, and seek out new industry connections. This network can be leveraged to provide high quality capstone projects, internships, and jobs.
Capstone Project Supervision and Management: The Capstone Project is an essential element of the MSBA program. It is designed for students to apply the knowledge and technical skills they have gained in the classroom to complex real-world business problems faced by corporate partners. Management of the capstone will include scoping projects that have academic rigor and create value for industry partners. Supervision of capstone projects will include meeting with student teams regularly to monitor their progress and assess student performance on the project.
Student Engagement and Experience: The Associate Director will act as a primary point of contact for MSBA students and is expected to actively engage with students throughout the program to develop the rapport required to optimally manage their program experience. They will gather and analyze student feedback to improve program quality and will develop and implement strategies to enhance the student experience and engagement both during and after the program. Additional support activities: The Associate Director will work closely with the executive director on activities related to (1) driving long-term program success, (2) student internships and jobs, and (3) program management.
