The Choice is managing an exciting direct hire search for a Senior Benefits Manager for our client- a prominent environmental/conservation nonprofit.
The Senior Benefits Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the employee benefits program, including benefit selection, billing audits, employee enrollment, and wellness programs. They will also play a critical role in analyzing employee demographics and using data-driven insights to optimize benefits offerings.
The ideal candidate will have/will be:
- A seasoned HR professional with 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, including leadership or managerial experience.
- Must be proficient in ADP Workforce Now and comfortable working with HRIS systems to manage benefits data.
- Knowledgeable about employee benefits laws and regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA)
- Benefits certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
- Must be based in DMV area and available for a hybrid in office schedule (approximately 2 days a week)
- Previous nonprofit/association experience preferred but not required. An interest in environmental conservation/sustainability a plus!
Job Duties will include:
- Lead the design and development of comprehensive employee benefits packages, including health, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, disability, and other supplementary benefits. Stay updated on market trends and industry best practices to ensure benefit offerings remain competitive.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align benefits offerings with organizational goals and employee needs.
- Analyze and report on employee demographics and benefits participation to guide strategic decisions.
- Provide guidance and assistance to employees during enrollment periods, ensuring they understand their options and make informed decisions.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of employee benefits selections and ensure proper data entry into ADP Workforce Now and other relevant systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, such as ACA, ERISA, and COBRA.
- Assist with new-hire orientations regarding Total Rewards and Compensation Program
- Develop, implement, and manage employee wellness programs aimed at improving overall employee health and well-being.
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote wellness initiatives, including physical health, mental well-being, and work-life balance programs. Monitor program participation, collect feedback, and analyze outcomes to measure the effectiveness of wellness programs.
- Stay current with trends in corporate wellness and recommend new initiatives
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related questions, concerns, and guidance.
- Prepare and distribute clear and concise benefits communications, including benefits guides, open enrollment materials, and periodic updates.
- Organize and lead benefits orientation sessions and informational meetings for new hires and employees.
- Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA
- Ensure benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, and COBRA. Assist with the preparation of required reports and filings for compliance purposes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external benefits vendors, such as insurance carriers, wellness providers, and third-party administrators.
- Leverage ADP Workforce Now to manage benefits data and generate analytical reports to enhance program effectiveness.
- Conduct regular audits of benefit plans to ensure that all charges are correct, including ensuring eligibility and dependent verification.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in billing and assist with resolving claims issues.
- Maintain up-to-date records of all benefits payments and communications with providers.
