    Nonprofit Bookkeeper Job Overview:

    This is a client-facing role that would directly manage 12-15 client accounts. This person needs to be financially savvy and extremely detail-oriented when it comes to numbers. We are looking for a proactive bookkeeper whose top priority is client service. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting nonprofit missions, enjoys working with visionary leaders, and is committed to fostering a positive and collaborative company culture.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Support client monthly close process in Quickbooks Online including bank, credit card, and payment platform reconciliations
    • A/P and A/R reconciliations for clients
    • Fundraising database reconciliations for clients
    • Make journal entries for clients
    • Process payroll for clients
    • Process A/P and A/R for clients
    • Receipt management for clients
    • Prepare and file 1099s for clients
    • Enter budgets into QBO for clients
    • Track restricted grants in QBO
    • Recommend and implement client QBO improvements
    • Generate financial reports, including customized dashboards with graphs and charts, for clients
    • Directly interact with clients via email and Zoom meetings
    • Support 100 Degrees Consulting CFOs with data entry, financial analysis, and other work as needed
    • Use tools like Keeper, Slack, and email to manage organization tasks and timelines
    • Liaise and communicate with 100 Degrees team via email, Slack, and Zoom to share knowledge, improve processes, and share wins and challenges
    • Stay updated on nonprofit accounting principles and best practices, implementing new techniques as needed

    Required Qualifications:

    • Proven experience as a bookkeeper in the nonprofit sector
    • Experience with managing restricted funding
    • Experience with complicated cost and payroll allocations
    • Experience with audit support
    • Proficiency in accounting software, financial tools, and software like QuickBooks Online, Google Sheets, Excel, SaasAnt, Google Workspace, Dropbox, Expensify, Slack, Keeper, Zoom, Gusto, ADP, BILL.com, Ramp, Melio as well as experience with software integrations with Quickbooks Online
    • Exceptional client service skills with a proactive approach to solving problems
    • Ability to seamlessly manage a roster of 12-15 clients and their individual priorities and needs
      • All new hires onboard with a smaller roster of clients with the expectation of reaching minimum capacity within 3-4 months
    • Are a skilled, professional, and confident writer and communicator

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Quickbooks Desktop to Online migrations
    • Experience with books consolidation
    • Experience with the Form 990
    • Experience working with nonprofit organizations in the international development space
    • Experience with providing bookkeeping support to multiple nonprofit organizations simultaneously
    • Fluent in Spanish and/or French

    Education and Experience:

    • Degree in accounting or related field is preferred
    • 3 years experience providing bookkeeping to multiple US nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, departments, or projects simultaneously required
      • Preferably experienced in working with organizations with an average annual revenue of $1 million - $5 million

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
    • Position calls for repeated and coordinated use of your hands, wrists, and fingers to use and type on a computer keyboard, requiring the use of fine motor skills
    • Position calls for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

    Logistics:

    • This is a full-time, non-exempt, W2 employee position.
    • We offer a flexible, remote work environment.
    • You must be available to respond to client communication and take meetings during regular business hours in the US, closely aligned with a 9am-5pm Eastern schedule.
    • You have your own computer and reliable internet access.
    • You maintain a workspace free of unnecessary distractions where client and internal calls may be taken in a professional manner.
    • You are able to be on video chat for scheduled meetings.

    • 30-minute screening interview with HR
    • Brief bookkeeper knowledge & skills assessment
    • 30-minute panel interview with Client Services Manager and Lead Bookkeeper (manager of this position)

    Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 per year

    The final salary will be determined based on several factors including experience, education, qualifications, as well as the need to maintain internal equity within the company.
