    About the Role

    Fruitslice is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Event Coordinator / Event Designer to join our events team. This volunteer role focuses on the overall coordination, design, and day-of programming for our quarterly events. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating meaningful, accessible, and aesthetically cohesive experiences that uplift and celebrate the Queer community.

    As the lead for the day-of experience, you’ll oversee everything from booking performers and finalizing reader line-up, to ensuring the event’s design aligns with Fruitslice’s brand identity. You’ll collaborate with the Events Director, Art Directors, and other team members to bring events to life, ensuring every detail supports a smooth and impactful guest experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Event Coordination:
      • Manage hospitality elements, ensuring guests feel welcome and supported.
      • Coordinate programming, including booking music acts and confirming readers.
      • Plan the flow of the event, ensuring seamless transitions between activities.
    • Event Design:
      • Oversee aesthetic elements of the event, ensuring alignment with Fruitslice’s brand identity and collaborating with Art Directors on decor and design.
      • Ensure accessibility compliance for all attendees.
      • Integrate design elements across event spaces to create a cohesive experience.
    • Day-of Event Management:
      • Supervise day-of event volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
      • Address any last-minute issues related to guest experience, flow, or accessibility.
      • Coordinate refreshments, amenities, and other hospitality details.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience: Prior experience with event coordination, programming, or hospitality management is preferred.
    • Aesthetic Alignment: A strong eye for design and familiarity with brand guides or design standards.
    • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple elements of an event.
    • Collaboration: Comfortable working closely with Art Directors, the Events Director, and other team members.
    • Queer Advocacy: Passionate about uplifting the Queer community and creating inclusive, celebratory spaces.
    • Self-Starter: Able to take initiative and solve problems independently.

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 10–15 hours per quarter, with additional hours leading up to events.
    • Minimum commitment of 6 months (2 event cycles).
