    About the Role

    Fruitslice is seeking a creative and driven Marketing & Community Outreach Specialist to join our events team. This volunteer role is ideal for someone passionate about building community and elevating Queer voices through dynamic, impactful events.

    As part of the events team, you’ll play a key role in the planning and execution of our quarterly events, with a focus on leading marketing efforts. You’ll collaborate closely with our Social Media Director and Art Directors to ensure that all promotional materials align with Fruitslice’s brand guidelines and design identity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Marketing Leadership: Lead marketing efforts for all events, including creating promotional strategies, designing materials, and ensuring consistent messaging.
    • Collaboration: Work with the Social Media Director and Art Directors to align materials with our brand guide and design identity.
    • Community Outreach: Build relationships with local Queer artists, businesses, organizations, and vendors to strengthen our event presence and impact.
    • Event Support: Contribute to overall event planning and execution, providing input and support across all stages.
    • Communication: Stay engaged with the team via Slack, attend occasional Zoom meetings, and participate in optional office hours for connection and collaboration.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience: Familiarity with outreach, marketing, and design tools like Canva or Adobe Suite.
    • Creative Vision: Ability to align with and elevate Fruitslice’s brand identity.
    • Community Ties: Strong connections within the Los Angeles Queer community, including artists, organizations, and vendors.
    • Collaboration Skills: Comfortable working across teams and communicating with diverse departments (e.g., newsletter, social media).
    • Self-Starter: Able to work independently in an asynchronous, remote environment.
    • Passion for Queer Advocacy: Excited to use your skills to help bring the Queer community together during a time when visibility and connection are more important than ever.

    Time Commitment

    • A few hours per week, with more hours required in the weeks leading up to events.
    • Minimum commitment of 6 months (2 event cycles).
    • Events happen 4 times a year.

    Location: This role is based in Los Angeles. Most work is remote and asynchronous, with occasional in-person opportunities.
