Permaculture and Natural Building (Bioconstruction) at an Eco Farm

Eco Caminhos is a sustainable eco farm and social project located outside of Rio de Janeiro in the beautiful mountains of Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. Guided by the principles of permaculture, we have an ethical basis in caring for the earth and caring for people. Our projects include organic farming, agroforestry, waste treatment, conservation, natural building, renewable energy systems, social work with underprivileged youth, and community development.

As a volunteer at our eco farm, you will be able to work on a variety of different projects, depending on your experience, abilities, goals, and/or interests (check our website for more information https://ecocaminhos.com/ ). You can focus on a specific area (e.g., an architecture student wanting to concentrate on natural construction design and techniques), or you can experience a little bit of everything (one day you might help build a cob wall while another day you help plant a forest and on another you help make an organic food garden at an underprivileged school). There’s never any shortage of things to do here and your tasks are flexible and dependent on you! In addition to the work we do here, you will also have the opportunity to daily practice Portuguese and enjoy our volunteer’s night just for having fun together. Not to mention, our location gives you the perfect opportunity to explore Rio every weekend if you want!
