Needed: Volunteer Board Members for Professionals Who Care (Remote) - On the Inclusivity of Caregivers in the Workplace

Professionals Who Care: We are Professionals Who Care, an emerging organization focused on the inclusivity of caregivers in the workplace.

The Struggle: Employed caregivers face overwhelming challenges while balancing the needs of a loved one and career responsibilities at the same time. They are an overlooked identity, with caregivers facing significantly higher levels of financial, social, family, physical health, and mental health difficulties. An inclusive workplace is a significant factor that determines the outcomes and well-being of employed caregivers. It is a place that does not discriminate or marginalize a professional based on their caregiver status. It is a place that creates policies to promote the flexibility and supports that caregivers need - without penalizing caregivers for using them. It is a place that understands a caregiver's ability to balance work & caregiving are essential to both the health and well-being of the caregiver - and the health and well-being of the person receiving the care.

The Hope: We also believe caregivers are amazing leaders and employees in the workplace for all the soft and hard skills they have gained in caring for someone who is disabled, aging, injured, or ill. We believe there is significant growth possible for employers, supervisors, human resource, and colleagues to contribute to an inclusive workplace. We believe that a community of support and a voice will make a difference for employed caregivers.

Next Steps: We at Professionals Who Care have completed our initial launch, and we are now looking for additional board members to take us to the next step in our growth. Will you consider joining?

Board Core Duties: Board member responsibilities include the three duties of care, obedience, and loyalty. We officially meet  three times a year, and we are looking for people to oversee different initiatives. The ideal board member would have had caregiver experience and is positive, communicative, flexible, and cares about improving the well-being and outcomes of caregivers in the workplace. Our three annual board meetings are currently held at 12:00 EST for 50 minutes, so we do need you to be available on certain days to bring your voice to the table.

Additional Details: There are additional volunteer opportunities beyond the the three board meetings that we can explore together. This is a remote, volunteer position that embodies flexibility, support, and taking one step at a time to bring a light to the hidden crisis in the workplace. We are interested in diversity and representation of all types for employed caregivers, and we welcome everyone to apply.

Learn More About Us: You can check out or website at professionalswhocare.org or our LinkedIn page. We also will be looking for additional volunteer positions - including in communications, administration, fundraising, and more. You can share your interest other positions by filling out this Google form.

We look forward to hearing from you!
