Mind Matters: Global Mental Health Advocacy & Support 🌍💚

Be the Change: Join the Movement to Prioritize Mental Well-being!

Mental health is a cornerstone of well-being, yet millions face stigma, lack of resources, and barriers to care. The Mind Matters project brings together compassionate volunteers to advocate for mental health, provide education, and create supportive communities. Let’s work to erase stigma, expand access to care, and empower individuals to thrive. 🌟

The Mental Health Crisis in Ghana

    • 1 in 5 Ghanaians experiences mental health challenges in their lifetime, yet only 2% of Ghana's health budget is allocated to mental health services .
    • 98% of people with severe mental health conditions in Ghana lack access to treatment due to stigma, lack of resources, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure .
    • Over 3 million Ghanaians live with conditions like depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder, exacerbated by unemployment, poverty, and societal pressures .
    • Mental health facilities are limited, with less than 20 psychiatrists serving the entire population of over 30 million .
    • Suicide rates are increasing, with 1,500 cases annually reported. However, stigma prevents many from seeking help .

Your contribution as a volunteer will directly address these challenges, creating a ripple effect of hope and support for individuals and communities.
