    Pet Support Lobby Greeters Needed!

We need animal lovers like you to help us in our mission to safeguard, rescue, heal, adopt and advocate for animals while inspiring community action and compassion. At BARCS, volunteers are more than just a tremendous help to our mission--they are our lifeline and our family. Our volunteers help us care for the animals and operate our programs in a variety of different areas.

Our Pet Support department at BARCS serves community members in need. The Pet Support team receives stray animals found by the public, animals being surrendered by their owners, and animals coming to BARCS for medical procedures or surgeries. They help pet owners who are looking for their lost pets and operate our pet food pantry. The resource department works closely with our Outreach team which helps pet owners who are experiencing temporary crises (such as homelessness, eviction, medical emergencies, incarceration, and more.) All in all, our Pet Support team is constantly supporting community members in very emotional moments.

We need volunteer help to greet new arrivals to the Pet Support lobby, help communicate wait times, manage the flow of humans, conduct lost pet walk throughs, help organize and distribute pet food pantry items, and, in general, help treat everyone with respect and dignity, no matter the circumstances. It's a very special role, but allows volunteers to help with some of our biggest success stories and support Baltimore's pet owners in a very direct way.
