VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are community volunteers, just like you, who stand up and speak out to help abused and neglected children. CASA of the Appalachian Mountains recruits, trains, and supports citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Nobody longs for a safe and loving home more than a child in foster care. As a CASA volunteer, you will be empowered by the court to help make this dream a reality. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for abused or neglected children, to ensure they don't get lost in the social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many of the children we serve, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
No special background or education is required to become a volunteer CASA. We encourage people from all cultures and professions and of all ethnic and educational backgrounds. Once accepted into the program, you will receive all necessary training in courtroom procedures, social services, and the special needs of abused or neglected children. All training is now done VIRTUALLY via Google Classroom and Zoom!
Won't you join CASA of the Appalachian Mountains and change a child's story.
