    The Youth Advocacy and Leadership Fellowship is an exciting opportunity for young activists and emerging leaders who are passionate about social justice, peacebuilding, and grassroots advocacy. This fellowship will provide hands-on training in leadership, organizing, and advocacy, with a focus on empowering youth to take action on issues such as militarism, economic inequality, and climate justice. Fellows will gain skills in campaign development, community engagement, and public speaking while contributing to impactful initiatives.

    This fellowship is ideal for young individuals (ages 18-25) looking to develop their leadership potential, engage in advocacy work, and make a difference in their communities.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership Development:

    • Participate in workshops, trainings, and mentorship opportunities aimed at developing leadership and advocacy skills.

    • Learn about grassroots organizing, coalition-building, and campaign strategy to effectively lead community-based advocacy initiatives.

    • Support the planning and execution of youth-led advocacy events, including rallies, town halls, and public forums.

    Advocacy and Campaign Work:

    • Engage in advocacy efforts to promote peace, economic justice, and social equity, focusing on issues such as demilitarization, environmental justice, and community investment.

    • Assist in the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns, including research, strategy development, and outreach efforts.

    • Work with community organizations, schools, and local youth groups to build coalitions and mobilize young people for advocacy campaigns.

    Community Engagement and Outreach:

    • Help organize and facilitate workshops, webinars, and events aimed at educating and engaging youth on peace and social justice issues.

    • Conduct outreach to local schools, community centers, and youth organizations to build partnerships and increase youth involvement in advocacy work.

    • Assist in the creation of digital content, social media campaigns, and educational materials to amplify youth voices and raise awareness of key issues.

    Collaboration and Networking:

    • Build relationships with fellow youth advocates, community leaders, and policymakers to advance advocacy goals.

    • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and community events to represent Peace Economy Project and share insights from youth-focused advocacy efforts.

    • Collaborate with other fellows, staff, and partner organizations to strengthen the impact of youth leadership within the peace movement.

    Qualifications

    • A passion for social justice, peacebuilding, and youth advocacy.

    • Strong interest in issues related to militarism, economic justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights.

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage peers, community members, and organizations.

    • Enthusiastic about learning leadership skills and participating in advocacy work.

    • A desire to work collaboratively with diverse communities and a commitment to equity and inclusion.

    • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Experience in community organizing, student leadership, or activism is a plus but not required.

    • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital organizing strategies.

    • Experience working with youth groups, schools, or community organizations.
