Healthy Eating Pied Piper: Be a Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Educator aid

At Hope Farms, we host a wide array of cooking and gardening classes for children, ranging from private events for small groups, to school field trips for hundreds and summer camps. We have opportunities on both weekdays and weekends

Our Seed-to-Plate Education volunteers have a love of working with children and an interest in gardening and/or cooking; however, we do not expect volunteers to be professionals or experts in either area. On any given day, you could be in the raised garden beds coaxing a seedling to life, harvesting ripe produce, or cooking those fresh fruits and vegetables in our Peg Lee Culinary Classroom. Our volunteers help instructors, direct the children, share in the experience, and encourage the children to enjoy the lessons. Our volunteers range from high school students, parents and retirees to professional chefs. If you have a desire to work directly with children, this is the niche for you.

In order to volunteer, you must fill out a Volunteer Interest Survey (VIS), which is located on our website, and attend an orientation. All Childrens Programming volunteers will need to complete a background check to be approved for work around children. Volunteers should dress appropriately for being around children and comfortably enough to be working in a garden and kitchen setting.
