    Are You a People Person?

    For Tuesday mornings, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

    VOLUNTEER POSITION SUMMARY: The volunteer is responsible for offering: safety and excellent customer service to all visitors, donors and customers by providing a dignified experience of charity; openness, ability and willingness to train and cross-train in the tasks needed at Seton Center; and hope to our under-served, under-resourced neighbors.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

    • Perform the tasks presented to you by your staff supervisor. These tasks may range in location from the Outreach Office to the Thrift Store. Our goal is to follow the workload.
    • Specialized tasks in the Thrift Store include: Cashiers are needed to process sales through the Point of Sale system
    • Warmly greet all entering the area in which you are working.
    • Be mindful of possible theft and report to a staff member if observed, and maintain an organized, safe and clean work area.
    • Unlock doors, place outdoor Open flag and turn Open sign on at 10 AM
    • Warmly greet customers as they enter the Family Store
    • Clean glass on Store’s front doors as needed
    • Check customers purchases out using a Clover Point of Sale system
    • Promote Seton Center’s sales, discounts and drawings
    • Bag merchandise if there is not an assistant available
    • Restock inventory at cashier station as needed
    • Interact and resolve conflict in positive ways with paid staff, fellow volunteers, clients, and customers to help create a pleasant, healthy & productive work environment.
    • Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work area.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

    • Basic math skills
    • Follow cash management procedures for sales, discounts, vouchers and gift cards
    • Ability to direct all to the appropriate staff without engaging in confidential conversations
    • Be a team player and enjoy volunteering independently
    • Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills
    • Understanding of and compassion for the needs of all visitors
    • Interact and resolve conflict in positive ways with paid staff, fellow volunteers, clients, and customers to help create a pleasant, healthy & productive work environment.
    • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality with personal, staff, volunteer, customer, and client information

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
    • Ability to see and use a calculator and Point of Sale System
    • Ability to walk, stand sit, bend, and reach to perform duties assigned
    • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs., with assistance

When the completed documents and background check results are received, Missy will contact you to schedule a 1-hour interview/orientation.
