    Overview

Fruitslice is seeking a passionate, self-motivated Distribution Lead to join our volunteer development team. This role is critical to expanding the reach of our publication and ensuring that more readers have access to our work—whether in bookstores, online, or through e-readers. If you’re excited about increasing accessibility, building relationships, and amplifying Queer voices, this is the position for you.

    Responsibilities

    The Distribution Lead will:

    • Bookstore Outreach:
      • Research and contact independent bookstores and Queer-friendly retailers to stock Fruitslice.
      • Build and maintain relationships with bookstore managers and distributors.
      • Track inventory, orders, and restocking needs.
    • Digital Distribution:
      • Strategize and execute plans to grow Fruitslice’s e-reader audience via platforms like ISSUU or other digital tools.
      • Collaborate with the team to ensure the digital version is promoted and accessible to a wide audience.
    • Distribution Strategy:
      • Develop and implement strategies to expand Fruitslice’s readership and physical distribution network.
      • Identify opportunities for partnerships with libraries, universities, Queer community centers, or other organizations that align with Fruitslice’s mission.
      • Keep detailed records of distribution efforts, including a contact database and follow-up timelines.
    • Marketing Support:
      • Collaborate with Fruitslice’s marketing team to ensure new distribution points are celebrated through social media and newsletters.
      • Provide insights into readership trends to support targeted promotions.
    • Community Engagement:
      • Be a visible advocate for Fruitslice, helping to connect the literary and Queer communities.
      • Share ideas for creative campaigns or events that can increase readership and distribution.

    Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

    • Is passionate about Fruitslice’s mission to uplift queer voices and expand access to their work.
    • Has excellent communication skills and is comfortable reaching out to bookstores, distributors, and other partners.
    • Is organized, detail-oriented, and able to keep track of multiple contacts and projects simultaneously.
    • Is familiar with digital publishing platforms or willing to learn (experience with ISSUU is a bonus).
    • Is creative, resourceful, and eager to contribute new ideas to Fruitslice’s distribution and development efforts.

    What We Offer

    • The opportunity to make a tangible impact by increasing the reach of a Queer organization.
    • Flexibility to work remotely and asynchronously, with occasional Zoom meetings.
    • Optional open Zoom hours to connect with other team members and share ideas.
    • A collaborative and supportive team environment that values creative thinking.

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible hours based on your availability (a few hours per week is typical).
    • Workload may fluctuate around publication launches or major distribution pushes.
    • Minimum 6 month commitment

    We Especially Encourage Applications From:

QTBIPOC individuals, disabled people, and others from marginalized communities. Fruitslice is committed to creating an inclusive and celebratory environment that reflects the diversity of the voices we amplify.
