Marketing Guidance to get Awareness and Donors

We are a new, small nonprofit (less than a year old) and as such we don't qualify for most grants, so direct donors are the way we will be able to get support right now. We have great programs but not sure how to market to donors.
We need to work on our mission statement and a bunch of other stuff related to marketing, but don't know what exactly.
This is why we need guidance and advice and ideas.

Your resume would be great. Just know you are working with the Executive Director that is eager to learn and appreciates your effort and will put in the effort to make this work because I truly believe in our mission, even though I don't know the catchphrase words to say it simply and concisely or how to advertise to get others as passionate as I am, but I hope you can help me with that!
