    About Us:

    The Peace Economy Project (PEP) is dedicated to promoting peace and economic justice through research, advocacy, and community engagement. Our Youth Advocacy and Leadership Program (YALP) aims to empower youth with the knowledge and skills to advocate for peace and social justice within their communities.

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking experienced and passionate individuals to join our team as Volunteer Mentors for the Youth Advocacy and Leadership Program (YALP). Mentors will provide guidance, support, and inspiration to youth participants, helping them develop their advocacy, leadership, and public speaking skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide Guidance and Support: Regularly meet with mentees to discuss their progress, challenges, and goals, offering personalized advice and support.

    Assist with Skill Development: Help mentees develop leadership, public speaking, and advocacy skills through practical advice, shared experiences, and role-playing exercises.

    Support Community Service Projects: Guide mentees in planning and implementing their community service projects, ensuring they are well-structured and achievable.

    Inspire and Motivate: Share your experiences and insights to inspire and motivate young advocates, fostering their passion for peace and social justice.

    Networking and Exposure: Introduce mentees to other professionals and advocates in the field, expanding their networks and opportunities for collaboration.

    Regular Check-Ins: Conduct regular check-ins to monitor mentees’ progress and provide constructive feedback.

    Evaluation and Reflection: Help mentees evaluate the impact of their projects and reflect on their experiences, identifying key learnings and areas for improvement.

    Qualifications:

    Experience in Advocacy and Leadership: Proven experience in advocacy, community organizing, or leadership roles, particularly related to peace and social justice.

    Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively guide and support mentees.

    Patience and Empathy: Patience and empathy to understand the challenges faced by youth and provide compassionate support.

    Commitment to Youth Development: Genuine interest in the personal and professional development of young people.

    Reliability and Consistency: Reliable and consistent in meeting with mentees and providing ongoing support throughout the program.

    Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and commit to the required hours per week.
