Whether you are passionate about conservation, land access, or sustainable agriculture, TerraCorps is here to help you serve local communities and build professional skills through transformative experiences.

TerraCorps is an AmeriCorps affiliated environmental nonprofit preparing and mobilizing emerging leaders to help communities gain access to and conserve land for people and nature. We do this by partnering with a network of 40+ nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of up to 60 AmeriCorps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they build capacity for the organization and learn to manage community programs in one of 5 coordinator positions:  Community Engagement Coordinators (CEC), Sustainable Agriculture Coordinators (SAC), Land Stewardship Coordinators (LSC), Youth Education Coordinators (YEC), Land Conservation Coordinator (LCC).

Youth Education Coordinators build the long-term capacity of their service sites by:

    • Members may partner with public schools to lead students on interpretive and inquiry-based field trips to investigate local flora and fauna and evaluate environmental conditions.
    • Members may use experiential education and service learning techniques to build school gardens and teach students to plant, grow, harvest, and eat vegetables.
    • Members may partner with youth groups to lead land stewardship-focused service learning projects.
    • And many other youth education projects and activities.

TerraCorps members serve in full-time (38 hours/week), 11-month positions from August 26th, 2024- July 25th, 2025. These AmeriCorps positions receive the following benefits:

    • Stipend of $27,000 distributed over the course of the term
    • Free access to healthcare coverage
    • Childcare coverage if eligible
    • Free mental health services through the Member Assistance Program
    • Money for college ($7,395), through the Segal Education Award of 47,395 upon completion of the program
    • Student loan forbearance if the member qualifies
    • Professional mentoring and coaching
    • Professional development trainings and workshops
    • Additional AmeriCorps benefits.
