    Company Description

Leading Like a Lady Blog is a not-for-profit company created to provide affirming advice and a platform for women of the African diaspora feeling insecure about their status in life. We do this by producing educational documentaries, books, online media, and digital services. Learn more about our services and work at www.leadinglikealady.blog.

    Job Description

As an editor for Leading Like a Lady Blog, you will be responsible for editing submissions, working closely with the Executive Director and contributing writers to maintain our publication's editorial standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in digital publishing and support emerging voices from Black/African communities.

This is a virtual job role and candidates will be hired on a voluntary, part-time basis. To avoid overworking, LLAL will rotate between volunteer editors weekly. While Leading Like a Lady is based in the United States, we welcome international candidates to apply (especially those based in Africa, the Caribbean, and/or South America).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to::

    1. Review, edit, and proofread articles for grammar, clarity, tone, and style consistency
    2. Ensure all content aligns with our editorial standards and guidelines
    3. Be a lover of words with a passion for storytelling
    4. Be enthusiastic about contributing to a mission-driven publication

    Candidate Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

    1. Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a similar subject
    2. Proven working experience as an editor for written work published online
    3. Proficient or native English-speaking skills
    4. Ability to provide constructive feedback in a respectful, collegial manner
    5. Knowledge of AP Style and citation is ideal
    6. Familiarity with the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics is ideal
