About “Stories of Immigrants” Stories of Immigrants is a nonprofit organization committed to challenging false narratives surrounding immigrants of diverse legal statuses. We amplify their voices through anonymous storytelling and foster understanding and advocacy for dignity and justice. Our platform provides a safe space for immigrants to share their stories and offers resources to support churches and immigrants alike. This includes equipping faith-based organizations with advocacy tools and practical assistance to create a more inclusive and supportive community.

Role Overview as a founding Board Member of Stories of Immigrants, you will play a crucial role in guiding the organization's mission and ensuring its success. Board members provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight, working collaboratively with other members and the organization's leadership to meet objectives and sustain impactful initiatives.

• Treasurer (Temporary)

We are actively seeking additional board members to fill key roles and expand our governance capacity. Your contributions will help shape the future of Stories of Immigrants and its mission to create a supportive and inclusive environment for immigrants.

Responsibilities

• Attend regular board meetings and participate actively in discussions.
• Provide oversight and guidance on organizational strategies and initiatives.
• Support fundraising efforts, including identifying and pursuing grant opportunities.
• Ensure financial and legal accountability.
• Advocate for the organization's mission and represent Stories of Immigrants in the community.
• Collaborate with other board members and staff to ensure the organization meets its goals.

Qualifications

• Passion for immigration advocacy and social justice.
• Expertise in immigration law, marketing, or communications (strongly preferred).
• Experience in nonprofit governance, fundraising, or strategic planning (preferred but not required).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Stories of Immigrants.

Commitment

• Approximately 5-10 hours per month, including board meetings, committee work, and special events.
• Attendance at quarterly board meetings.
• Near DC, VA, or Maryland.
