Specific responsibilities
- Manage the sponsorship program
- Make regular reports to the school director in India, and to the co-founder in Quebec
- Update and manage the sponsors data base
- Manage the correspondence between sponsors and children
- Collect and file relevant information: exam results, photos, drawings, etc
- Create correspondence projects (writing, imagery, audio, etc.)
- Promote the sponsorship program in person and through the website, social networks, and events
- Maintain relations with sponsors (exchange of emails, organization of meetings, visits, etc.)
- Seek new sponsors and beneficial partnerships for the school.
- Monitor the sponsorship payments
- Other fundraising as instructed
It is important to understand that this position is more than a job. It is a commitment and a way of life. You should expect a wide variety of tasks. Your schedule will vary depending on the needs of the students and the volunteers, and on unexpected events.
Profile
Training/Experience
- Experience of working with an NGO.
- Experience in education, communication, project management would be an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken skills in English – French would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of computer software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop.

- Excellent organisational skills.
- Work ethic, professional, good communication skills
- Able to adapt to the local context with flexibility and a non-judgemental approach to people and work.
- Able to work on your own initiative in a calm and patient manner.

Conditions, Monitoring and Evaluation
Resource persons: Adam Woodward, Director and Agathe Meurisse-Fortier, co-founder and Sponsorship Program Manager (communication through Skype from Quebec).
Working conditions: You will work within the administrative team. The provision of a computer can be discussed beforehand. You will also be given a local Sim Card for general communications and internet.
Living Conditions: The school is located in a forest area. We provide an individual simple housing, built following traditional methods and using environmental-friendly materials (bamboo and mud) as a part of a close-knit community life. A few members of staff, the volunteers and the children are sharing the living space so you must be used to, or willing to adapt to living in a group. We also provide 3 vegetarian meals per day.
Place of Work: Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya, Kalkeri Village, Dharwad District 580007, Karnataka, India. This is a residential position.
Working hours: 6 days/week - 6 hours/day.
Administrative requirements: Employment Visa, Registration in local FRRO and opening of a local bank account.
