Looking to make an impact in your community? United Way’s Free Tax Preparation Campaign is the largest IRS-funded VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) programs in the state, and we'd love you to join us!
Since its inception in 2003, the Free Tax Prep Campaign has served more than 150,000 clients and distributed more than $200 million in refunds at absolutely no cost. This year, we expect to operate 20 tax sites across King County and bring additional millions in tax credits and refunds back into the pockets of those who need them most. In 2024, each individual volunteer generated an average of $30,648 in refunds. That’s $442 back into the community for each hour volunteered!
You could become a tax preparer, preparing returns for the folks who come into our tax sites looking for assistance. You don't need tax experience for this role: we will train you to prepare and submit returns.
Interested in getting involved but don't feel comfortable handling someone's return? No problem! The intake role is fun and easy-- you greet clients and help them get their documents ready, then place them with a tax preparer. This role is just as vital to a tax site as the tax preparation itself.
For just four hours a week, you could make a big impact in the lives of your friends and neighbors!
Would you please consider this important tax and community service opportunity and share it with your friends and colleagues? For more information about the Campaign and to sign up, please visit our website, https://uwkc.org/taxvolunteer.
