Report Writing Consultant - Humanitarian Context Needed

Are you an experienced report writing specialist with a background in humanitarian work? Do you have a keen eye for detail, accuracy, and compelling storytelling? The World Disaster Center (WDC) is seeking a Report Writing Expert for a 5-day consultancy to finalize a critical report that will shape our disaster management strategies worldwide. A stipend is included for this short-term engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Refine & Finalize Report – Fix spelling, grammar, and structure for clarity and professionalism.
• Fact-Check & Verify Data – Ensure accuracy of numbers, percentages, and statistics, citing credible sources (articles, reports, news, etc.).
• Formalize Language – Transform the report into a professional, research-driven document by replacing informal phrasing with objective and authoritative language (e.g., using "World Disaster Center" instead of "we").
• Enhance Readability – Balance heavy text with quotes, tables, images, and structured formatting to improve engagement.
• Cite Sources Properly – Add references as footnotes to support key claims and data points.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in humanitarian or disaster response report writing (UN, NGOs, think tanks, or academic institutions preferred).
• Strong research and editing skills, with a focus on fact-checking and professional presentation.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into structured, accessible reports.
• Familiarity with referencing standards (APA, Chicago, or Harvard).
• Proficiency in MS Word, Google Docs, and data visualization tools.
