Volunteer Drumline Coach Needed

SoulPhamm is a nonprofit organization that provides sports, arts and academic programs for young people in New Jersey and New York City. Our program runs on Saturdays from 12:45pm to 3:45pm at the Newark YMCA, in the Downtown section of Newark, NJ until June 2025.

At this time, we are seeking volunteer coaches for our Drumline which will include boys and girls ages 12 to 19. We are looking for two virtual coaches and two "in-person" coaches. The virtual schedule is flexible and dependent on the coaches' schedules. The in-person practice is also flexible but needs to happen between the hours of 12:45pm and 3:45pm, when we have access to a practice space.

While "coaching" experience is not required, significant experience as a current or former participant on a drumline is required - such that you can independently instruct beginners and advanced level youth musicians.

The ability to be consistent and available on Saturdays is critical as the youth will depend on you, particularly as they approach high-level performances and competitions. All of our groups are preparing for appearance at NBA G-League games in the early new year, as well as other high-visibility events.
