Volunteer at DOROT to form new connections and address social isolation for older New Yorkers. As a DOROT volunteer, you have many choices, both remote and in person. Serve as a friendly visitor to a homebased older adult in Manhattan on a weekly or monthly basis; help with occasional errands or tasks; teach an older adult the basics of using their smartphone or laptop, or sign up for Caring Calls to develop a phone-based friendship. DOROT also welcomes former college-level instructors, social workers, facilitators and museum educators to share skills and expertise.
DOROT is a social services organization based in New York City and Westchester dedicated to addressing social isolation and promoting social connections for older adults. We welcome volunteers ages 18+ and especially those 50+ to volunteer in a wide-ranging set of roles.
The best way to learn more is to sign up for a general information and orientation session. These take place over Zoom twice per month. Register here.
