    General Overview and Objective of the Project: The Necessary Society is seeking a dedicated volunteer to serve as a Researcher and Analyst on Direct Democracy. This critical role involves conducting comprehensive research into the pros, cons, potential obstacles, ideology, policy development, and historical context of direct democracy. The objective is to gather detailed information that will inform our organizational strategy, policy proposals, educational materials, and outreach efforts.

    Tasks and Tactics:

    1. Comprehensive Literature Review: Conduct a thorough review of existing literature on direct democracy, including academic articles, books, policy papers, and case studies; Summarize key findings, focusing on the pros, cons, and potential obstacles of direct democracy.
    2. Ideological and Historical Analysis: Research the ideological foundations and historical development of direct democracy; Identify significant historical examples of direct democracy and analyze their outcomes.
    3. Policy Development and Analysis: Investigate existing policies and models of direct democracy in various jurisdictions; Analyze successful implementations and extract best practices; Identify common challenges and strategies for overcoming them.
    4. Development of Educational and Informational Materials: Develop a draft of a citizen initiative based on research findings; Create informational materials for legislators, volunteers, and the public, including brochures and online content; Prepare detailed reports and summaries for internal use.
    5. Stakeholder Analysis: Identify key stakeholders and influencers in the field of direct democracy; Analyze their positions and potential roles in supporting or opposing direct democracy initiatives.

    Milestones:

    • Week 1-2: Conduct a comprehensive literature review and summarize key findings; Research and reach out to potential policy experts
    • Week 3-4: Complete the ideological and historical analysis, focusing on significant examples and outcomes.
    • Week 5-6: Investigate and analyze existing policies and models of direct democracy, identifying best practices and challenges.
    • Week 7-8: Finalize reports, summaries, and stakeholder analysis

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in academic or policy research.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights.
    • Familiarity with political science, public policy, or related fields is preferred.

    Impact to the Community: By providing in-depth research and analysis on direct democracy, you will help The Necessary Society develop well-informed strategies, policies, and educational materials. Your work will directly contribute to empowering citizens and creating a more democratic society.
