Intermountain Health-St. Mary's Regional Hospital

St. Mary's Regional Hospital is an affiliate of Intermountain Health. A non-for-profit organization, St. Mary's was founded in 1896 and started as a small, wood-framed building with only 10 beds. Today, St. Mary's is the largest medical center between Denver and Salt Lake City and boasts over 300 patient beds. The mission of Intermountain Health is to help people live the healthiest lives possible. The mission of St. Mary's Regional Hospital is that God's healing love is made present through us, permeates shapes, and drives our healthcare ministry.

In addition to providing medical services to our patients, St. Mary's Regional Hospital has over 200 individuals actively volunteering in the hospital and outlying facilities. St. Mary's operates two additional volunteer programs; Community Connections and Meals on Wheels Mesa County.

Community Connection's mission: Active volunteers enhancing the independence of older adults who no longer drive by providing community access and friendship.

Meals on Wheels Mesa County mission: To promote the independence, health and well being of the elderly in Mesa County through quality nutritional services.

Community Connections is a program through which active adults are provided volunteer opportunities to serve older adults who no longer drive. Through friendship and routine assistance, Community Connections volunteers help their assigned clients to continue living at home. The goals of the program are threefold:

1. Enable older adults, 60 and older, who no longer drive, to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
2. Provide opportunities for social engagement that reduce isolation and enrich the lives of those we serve.
3. Ensure access to medical services and food stability.

Meals on Wheels Mesa County provides affordable lunchtime meals to seniors 60 and older in Mesa County. The program prepares and serves over 200,000 meals annually-600 or more per day. Meals are served at eight dining site locations. Over 500 meals are home delivered each weekday, to the frail and homebound elderly in the Grand Valley.
