  • About Us

The mission of Playtime Project (Playtime) is to cultivate resilience in children experiencing family housing insecurity by providing and expanding access to transformative play experiences. We do this by creating ongoing play opportunities that nurture healthy child development; challenging systemic injustice by advocating for policies and practices that reduce the risk of chronic homelessness; and connecting families with critical support services and supplies in the community to meet their concrete needs.

Our long-term goal is to increase resiliency in children experiencing housing insecurity, thereby helping to break the cycle of chronic family homelessness. Short-term goals for children include increasing children’s 1) social-emotional skills, 2) problem-solving skills, and 3) optimism about the future. Short-term organizational goals are to increase 1) access to play spaces and programs, 2) the number of families connected to services and supports, and 3) awareness about play equity, the affordable housing crisis, and unmet needs of children and families experiencing housing insecurity.
