Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans

Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans is a charitable organization registered in Canada, the United States and Guatemala. Our mission is to improve the future of Guatemalans living in poverty by providing young students with educational sponsorships and after-school support, and to provide adults with literacy and vocational training.

The students participate in a structured Reading program to help students improve their level of reading and to instill a love of reading. We provide adult vocational programs of sewing, computer skills and English to help adults living in poverty to better provide for their children.

Our preschool activities enhance social, behavioral, and cognitive development during our students’ early years so that early learning experiences have positive effects on children’s readiness to learn in their future years of learning.

Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans’ vision is to empower Guatemalans to break out of the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient as a result of receiving an education.
