Overview of the Organization
The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State that works for justice and opportunity for immigrants and refugees. The NYIC successfully brings together multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-sector constituencies to pursue a common agenda. That agenda includes: advocating for equitable immigration policies; ensuring immigrants’ civil rights; encouraging immigrants’ civic and electoral participation; improving immigrants’ access to quality health care and education; coordinating immigration services; and educating both newcomer communities and the public at large about immigration issues.
About the ICTI:
The Immigrant Concerns Training Institute (ICTI) at the NYIC provides high-quality trainings designed to support New York State's nonprofit agencies and legal service providers. We offer a full calendar of continuing legal education (CLE) and non-CLE trainings on topics critical to organizations, social service providers, government employees, and attorneys serving immigrant communities.
Summary of the Position
We are seeking an intern to support the ICTI’s efforts to provide more than 250 hours of training each year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about immigration advocacy and access to justice, and wants to build a client-centered and trauma-informed culture of immigration advocacy in New York State. This internship will be a great fit for candidates who are considering a career in immigration law and advocacy. The intern will have the opportunity to attend any of the trainings on the ICTI’s training calendar and to liaise with our training faculty, which consists of talented and innovative immigration attorneys from across NY State. The Training intern will work closely with NYIC training staff and partner organizations to manage the logistical challenges of administering trainings, including data entry and technical support.

The training intern will work 10-15 hours/week for three months, from January 6, 2025 through May 2, 2025. The compensation for this position will be $20/hour.
