HRF unites people in the common cause of defending human rights and promoting liberal democracy. Our mission is to ensure that freedom is preserved and promoted worldwide. We seek, in particular, to sustain the struggle for liberty in those areas where it is most under threat.

HRF produces the Oslo Freedom Forum, an annual human rights conference in Norway. For more information on HRF and its work, please visit our website at www.hrf.org. To learn more about the Oslo Freedom Forum, please visit www.oslofreedomforum.com.

    About the Internship

The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Content Intern for HRF’s Financial Freedom department. This is a unique opportunity to help a dynamic and high-achieving nonprofit content team as it works to create reports, press releases, and strategic communications across various channels to enhance our work.

This position reports directly to the Content & Research Lead and will help carry out the team’s content creation efforts, including research, writing, and editing tasks. The Content Intern will work closely with the rest of the Financial Freedom department and Communications department.

    Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:

    • Ongoing Financial Freedom Impact Report: Support the production of a comprehensive report by collecting and synthesizing information from various team members, drafting content, obtaining necessary approvals, and collaborating with designers to produce a high-quality final product. You will work alongside the Content Lead on this initiative.
    • Donor & Supporter Reports: Prepare detailed reports for existing and potential donors that clearly outline the projects we have funded, including the reasons behind these decisions and the impact of each project. Additionally, provide informed recommendations on initiatives donors should consider supporting, with explanations of their significance and potential outcome.
    • Strategic Communication Development: Collaborate with the wider Financial Freedom team to craft and execute communications for key initiatives, including Bitcoin for Nonprofits, Bitcoin Development Fund, and various events, aimed at increasing engagement and impact.
    • Email communications: Manage all aspects of email communications related to program updates, new launches/content pieces, events, and promotions (but not related to the newsletter). This includes writing, editing, coordinating design, building and scheduling emails.
    • Press Releases: Draft quarterly press releases for the quarterly Bitcoin Development Fund, highlighting grants awarded to developers, educators, activists, and community leaders.
    • Maintain the Financial Freedom Website: Collaborate with the Content Lead & Director of the Financial Freedom program to enhance the program’s web presence. Responsibilities include content creation (if necessary), review, SEO optimization, and ensuring the website is regularly updated with current and relevant resources.
    • Maintain Cohesive Communications: Ensure that all communications align with HRF’s mission and vision, presenting Bitcoin as a neutral and apolitical tool for financial freedom.

To expedite the application process, please submit a writing sample based on the scenario below to ffreport@hrf.org

    Scenario:

Imagine you need to inform a donor about a recent grant HRF awarded to the Africa Bitcoin Conference (ABC). Your task is to write a concise yet descriptive, one-paragraph explanation that introduces ABC, explains why their work is critical to HRF’s mission, and describes the impact on individuals’ financial freedom.

    Instructions:

    • Your explanation should be clear, informative, and easy to understand, even for a donor who may not be familiar with ABC.
    • Focus on conveying the significance of the project and how the grant will enhance their work.
    • Ensure your writing is grammatically correct.
    • Keep your sample to one paragraph in length.

    Evaluation Criteria:
