    Summary

Art in Tanzania advocates environmentally friendly solutions for Tanzanian communities. We train about household solar solutions, composting, climate change and environmental hazards.

    Details

Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. We receive about 250 participants in our community placements annually.

Tanzanian communities need more economic strength to implement environmentally friendly household solutions.

Presently, less than 50% of households have a toilet. Interns are developing sustainable and affordable solutions, including dry toilets for homes and schools.

We advocate household solutions such as water purification, composting, finding sustainable cooking heat sources, and developing tree and bamboo nurseries.

In Tanzania, it is essential to train the communities to understand the effects of climate change and disaster risks and how to manage them.

Sustainable Wildlife Safaris and other tourism operations are essential sources of NGO funding.

Academic-level team leaders supervise your daily work. We also monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you succeed with your placement work.

The internship outcome is to learn to use and get experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacitation.

Also, to better understand the opportunities in a fast-growing economy. Interns work in teams of international students and volunteers.

Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests to empower our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible as all programs are ongoing, many since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.

We commonly have 15-40 students from different parts of the world, from over 400 universities we cooperate with, and representing a variety of professions.

The Benefits and Perks are as follows:

Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1-13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation with breakfast and dinner, the student compound facilities, and professional tutoring. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.

Airport transfer is EUR 60 one way, which is a personal expense.

A charity visa for immigration, which costs USD 50, is a personal expense. A multiple-entry visa for less than 12 months is USD 250.

We pay interns a USD 50 monthly stipend, which is small but 2x Tanzania's national minimum wage.

    Flights are a personal expense.

Local transport, if any, is a personal expense.
