    Position Summary

    The Project Coordinator is a new, full-time, junior-level position and will be responsible for assisting with many activities relating to project management, planning, and execution, including meeting support and project tracking/communication. The Project Coordinator will report to Senior Project Manager, Shaara Ainsley, and will provide a wide variety of support and assistance across the Projects Team, utilizing experience in biology, conservation, and natural resources management (through formal education and training, as well as field-based experience).

    Responsibilities

    Project Coordination

    • Support Project Managers with internal and external meetings through scheduling, agenda setting, note-taking, summarizing notes, facilitating, and other tasks, as relevant.
    • Build and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders.
    • Coordinate and execute specific project elements to complete deliverables and project goals such as tours, workshops, permitting, and report writing.
    • Coordinate work logistics, including scheduling and staffing, supply purchasing, and travel.
    • Communicate project progress and results through presentations, technical reports, blog posts, newsletters and public-facing communications materials.
    • Uses project management software and tools to track tasks, deliverables, and timelines
    • Assist in tracking project expenses and updating budgets.
    • Assist in the identification and application of grants for current and future projects.

    Technical Scientific Support

    • Assist with the design and execution of technical and non-technical studies.
    • Collect and manage scientific data for projects requiring scientific field work.
    • Review and summarize technical reports with relevance to projects.

    Key Project Areas

    • Fish passage improvement (Hood Canal Bridge Assessment)
    • Impacts of climate on salmon and steelhead resiliency (Salmon and Climate Initiative)

    Team Collaboration, Values, and Culture

    • Collaborate as a member of the Projects Team, providing thought partnership and support as needed.
    • Stay informed about the latest science and salmon recovery actions.
    • Work collaboratively and learn from the entire organization, and with external partners, stakeholders, and governments (especially Tribal Governments).

    Minimum Skills & Qualifications

    • 3+ years of a combination of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities.
    • Experience coordinating a campaign/project/program that involved multiple organizations, and interest and excitement around collaborative initiatives.
    • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (mainly Excel, Word, and Outlook), digital document layout and formatting (in Word, email platforms, or similar) and performing web searches. Experience with a similarly performing software suite (G-Suite, etc.) may be substituted.
    • Ability to collaborate in a hybrid and technology-forward work environment, utilizing cloud-based team communication software such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Slack.
    • Familiarity with basic ecosystem processes, salmon recovery efforts, and willingness to grow this knowledge.
    • Ability to plan and execute work with minimal oversight (appropriate training and ongoing support will be provided).
    • Persistence; possesses unparalleled follow-up skills.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
    • Good natured team member, willing to be flexible and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

    • Valid driver’s license, and either a vehicle or willingness to rent one when needed (LLTK covers all cost of rentals).

    Desired Skills & Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in environmental education, communications, fisheries biology, ecology, biology, chemistry, natural resources management, environmental science, conservation science, or closely related field.
    • Demonstrated expertise in Puget Sound salmon recovery and related processes, fish passage improvements, ecological responses to climate change, and/or climate resiliency planning.
    • Experience with project management software (e.g., Asana).
    • Experience collecting, managing, and analyzing scientific data.
    • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and associated deliverables.
    • Experience with coordinating contractors.
    • Experience working with diverse partners and stakeholders.
    • Experience with all levels of government relations, including Tribal governments.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop projects, including funding.

    Compensation & Benefits

    This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$74,999. The range aims to accommodate those with varying years of relevant experience and/or education. Final salary offers are dependent on how candidates’ skills, abilities, and experiences align with LLTK's salary framework.

    Working Conditions and Location

    Long Live the Kings is currently using a hybrid workplace model:

    • We ask all staff to work from our office in downtown Seattle at least one day a week. Our anchor days are currently Tuesdays.
    • Additionally, we have quarterly staff gatherings that require in-person participation and there may be additional work location and travel needs specific to this position.
    • Note that this may change as we continue to adjust to workplace changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

    The physical requirements of this role listed below are representative of those that may need to be met by an employee in this role:

    • Operating a computer and other office equipment.
    • Ability to work in an office environment with fluctuating noise level.
    • Occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds; however, assistance with lifting or moving items can be provided.
    • Ability to conduct fieldwork which may include walking on uneven surfaces, working in/around water and on boats, and travel which may result in irregular work hours.
