Site Director, Teach Minnesota

TNTP brings research, policy, and consulting together to reimagine America’s public education system. We are a national organization of over 600 full-time TNTPers with expertise from a variety of fields, united by the vision to change outcomes for all students.

This work takes place in schools and districts across the country, and our national position allows us to spot trends, collect and analyze data, and advocate for policy changes that introduce greater impact at scale. We work across sectors and partner with school systems to ensure that the 3.5 million young people who graduate high school every year have pathways to economic and social mobility.

TNTP's Teach Minnesota program is an alternative route to a career in teaching. Teach Minnesota’s first class of 30 Fellows started training in the summer of 2022, with a commitment to recruit cohorts with at least 50% of teachers identifying as a person of color. As we scale to 100 teachers by year three, Teach Minnesota has the capacity to shift the landscape of diverse educators in the Twin Cities by at least 10% over 5 years. Our teachers come from many walks of life, but most come from other careers; they are all committed to ending the injustice of educational inequity. The position is based out of a home office in Minneapolis or Saint Paul, with expected local travel 3 to 4 times per week and additional travel during the summer as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Site Director you will set the strategy for ensuring the Teach Minnesota program is a leader in developing, effective, diverse new teachers for Minnesota schools. You will lead, manage, and develop an inclusive team in designing and executing an instructional vision and strategy to meet ambitious teacher performance and contract goals.

Responsibilities:

• Set programmatic vision and strategy for Teach Minnesota and invest the team in that vision to ensure daily actions are in alignment.
• Work side-by-side with districts, schools, and community partners to make effective decisions that are in the best interest of students.
• Lead strategy and execution of TNTP's 6-week summer pre-service training, school year seminar curriculum, and classroom coaching to ensure program elements are effective in improving student learning and new teacher performance.
• Design and pilot innovative approaches to improving teacher diversity and performance under a quick timeline to ensure a highly effective and diverse cohort of teachers.
• Design recruitment, selection, and matriculation strategy and lead the team towards execution of the strategy to ensure Teach MN meets and/or exceeds its goals.
• Identify barriers to teacher recruitment, training, development, and retention, particularly for teachers of color, and advocate for policy, process, and practice shifts to address those barriers.
• Communicate program outcomes to external clients, funders, staff, and internal stakeholders at TNTP, building a case for successes, failures, and outcomes of pilots and innovations.
• Position self as a credible expert on teacher quality, teacher training, and effective talent management, advising clients on approach and sharing best practices from TNTP's national reports and other work.
• Maintain and support an inclusive team culture and manage full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff toward individual and contract goals.
• Monitor and analyze data on fellow performance, student outcomes, and program impact to inform continuous improvement efforts.
• The expected local travel for this role is 3 to 4 times per week with additional travel during the summer as needed.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong education background and instructional skillset with experience at the K-12 level, preferably in a high-need school.
• Understand what effective teaching looks like when observing teachers in practice.
• A deep commitment to the importance of effective instruction and inclusive practices.
• Experience managing a team to achieve ambitious goals, specifically related to student outcomes, teacher and/or school performance, and adult learning and development.
• Comfort with proposing innovative approaches, assessing immediate impact, and holding yourself accountable to results.
• Excellent forecasting, strategic planning, communication, and writing skills.
• Current or former E3-12 administrators preferred.

WHAT WE OFFER

The salary range for this position is $93,760 - $140,640. New hires can typically expect a starting salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint ($93,760-$117,200), in alignment with experience, qualifications, and our commitment to equity in compensation.
