    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    As the Director, Custom System Development you will:

    • Define and execute the design for custom system development and online services in alignment with the organization’s goals.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify technology needs and opportunities for digital transformation.
    • Lead and manage cross-functional teams involved in the development of custom systems, web applications, and online services
    • Lead the development, customization, and implementation of software solutions
    • Ensure the integration of custom systems with existing platforms
    • Ensure a seamless, user-friendly experience across all digital platforms
    • Create and maintain system architecture documentation and technical specifications
    • Manage the development and enhancement of online services, including websites, member portal
    • Ensure that all custom systems and online services adhere to security protocols, data protection regulations, and industry standards.
    • Ensure ongoing system maintenance, including updates, patches, and improvements.
    • Monitor system performance and implement optimization strategies to improve efficiency and user experience.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for custom systems and online services.

    WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    APhA may be the right fit for you, if you have:

    Experience and Education required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Information Systems; Advanced degree a plus.
    • A minimum of 8+ years in developing and planning innovative prototypes within various technical platforms and minimum of 1+ years supervising technical staff.
    • Experience with agile software development methodology and agile modeling techniques.
    • Experience leading technical development products across all phases of their lifecycle, from prototyping through launch and beyond through growth phase and into maturity

    Skills, knowledge and abilities required:

    • Demonstrated experience working with multiple functional disciplines (including management, product management, producers, QA, and operations) to ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality software products and services.
    • Demonstrated success working with on- and off-site teams to develop and launch excellent technical products.
    • Demonstrated success building highly scalable web products, including web applications, APIs and mobile applications.
    • Experience applying emerging digital media technologies, ideally involving distribution and deployment of products across a large, complex organization.
    • Demonstrated experience developing solutions for\with
      • Full Stack Development (.net/.net core)
      • Microsoft SQL Server and SQL query language
      • Service-oriented and resource-oriented architectures
      • API’s, Data and Web Services (AWS Microservices)
      • Single sign-on (SSO) (oAuth 2.0)
      • CMS systems
      • Amazon Web Services
      • Business Intelligence
    • Strong understanding of service-oriented and resource-oriented architectures and responsive design principles.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to converse effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues across all layers of the stack, including presentation layer (both JavaScript and CSS), service layer, data layer.
    • Solid understanding of the .net Framework. Experience developing applications that interface with Salesforce, Personify, and other open enterprise applications is preferred.
    • Conceptual knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, MS SQL server, as well as accounting software systems and Web technology and web site development
    • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people of diverse professional backgrounds.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills: the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced and complex technical environment and the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
    • Flexible and collaborative work style with a pro-active and solutions-oriented approach.
    • Ability to successfully plan, implement, and lead complex technical projects, including planning for future growth.

    • Ability to do cost analysis using standard financials concepts to determine the impacts of technical decisions.

    LOCATION: Washington, DC – Hybrid, two days a week in the office (Tuesday & Thursday)
