    Make the Road Nevada (MRNV), a 501(c)(3) organization, holds a vision for Nevada that begins with building a strong grassroots foundation in Las Vegas and it ends with elevating the power of working-class immigrant communities in every community around the state. We do this by informing, empowering, and mobilizing our community to take action on important issues that directly affect their families and loved ones.

    Make the Road Action (MRA), a 501(c)(4) organization, is committed to building power for justice in immigrant and low-income working-class communities of color. MRA operates in five states - New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. We work to create social change, connect voters to the candidates and issues most important to them, and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment to create long-term impact in the communities that need it most.

    Make the Road States (MRstates), a 501(c)(3) organization, is the national home for the second-generation Make the Road family of organizations that serve to uplift the voices of working-class immigrants, women, LGBTQIA people, and people of color.

    Current Opening:

    The Deputy Organizing Director (DOD) must be driven, detail-oriented, and adaptable. This person should love to develop and support both the organizing team and the organization as a whole. They should be self-motivated and able to juggle multiple competing priorities. This job requires direct work to ensure organizers are meeting goals and metrics. With guidance and support from the Organizing Director, the DOD will be responsible for the growth of our membership and the strength of our members across Washoe County and its surrounding communities. They are also responsible for contributing to the fiscal health of the organization by writing grant and funding proposals and reports as well as identifying potential funding opportunities for the organization. The DOD will be tasked with leading the operations in Washoe County and its surrounding communities to oversee the campaign organizing and membership development taking place in the region. The DOD will directly oversee a growing team of organizers and will be required to support our regional staff, which currently includes a Lead Organizer, a Youth Organizer, an Immigrant Justice Organizer, a Digital Associate, and an Operations Associate. This position will require some long hours, weekends, and some travel across Nevada and other parts of the country.

    Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

    General Responsibilities

    • Direct supervision of Organizing Leads, Organizers, and fellows
    • Provide guidance and support to regional staff from other departments in collaboration with Department Directors and Managers
    • Represent MRNV/MRA and cultivate relationships with coalition partners and allied organizations
    • Ensure internal MRNV/MRA standards and goals are met
    • Foster strong working relationships with Senior team and the MRS staff and members
    • In collaboration with the Organizing Director, support the Civic Engagement in Political Policy Education with staff and members
    • Manage outreach tools and technology including our CRM base

    Organizing Team Management

    • Work with the Organizing Director to develop and implement campaign strategy and plans on a week-to-week basis with organizers, including carrying out actions, rallies, press conferences and other tactics
    • Provide professional development plans and opportunities for organizing team and membership
    • Record and report metrics as part of individual work plan, campaign plans and organizational goals
    • Developing and implementing organizing strategies for multiple of MRNV and MRA campaigns and committees
    • Coordinate with MRS organizing teams and coalitions to ensure message and action cohesion across states
    • Ability to resolve conflict internally and externally in an efficient and effective manner
    • Ability to hold teams accountable to metrics and overall campaign goals and organizational expectations

    Development Support

    • Support in research funding opportunities from various sources including grants, corporate, and individual donors
    • Support on proposals for funding including drafting, writing, editing, and submitting
    • Support in consistent flow of outgoing of proposals
    • Support in managing grant requirements and reporting to ensure that deadlines are met
    • Support on the creation and managing of budgets with the support of senior staff as part of the grant process
    • Represent and foster MRNV/MRA with funders and prospective funders

    Requirements:

    • Eligible to work in the US
    • Required to be fully vaccinated with a FDA approved COVID-19 vaccine prior first day of employment
    • 3-5 years experience management
    • 3-5 years experience in organizing and/or campaign management
    • Must have a passion for justice for marginalized communities
    • Must be able to navigate complex interpersonal relationships
    • Strong time management and prioritization, both for self and team
    • Belief in the power of grassroots organizing to create change to improving the quality of life for immigrants and working-class Nevadans and creating a pipeline of leaders from our local community
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also to work independently, with the self-motivation to prDODuce excellent work on time
    • A high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to appropriately adapt to the organization’s needs
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency
    • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed to support campaign activities, community events, and organizational meetings.
    • Ability to work in office, this position is not a remote position
    • Ability to use personal phone to conduct work-related communications and activities including texting and phone banking

    Salary and Benefits:

    MRStates offers an excellent benefit package including health insurance, 401K, and generous paid vacation, sick, personal days. The salary range for this position is from $75,497 to $88,924.
